You may have noticed that we didn't release a newsletter for the month of April. It was a very difficult decision to choose; but ultimately, I made the decision to fine tune the message that I wanted to convey. It is this type of decision that each of us face throughout our professional journey.
I have been engaged over the past few months in working with individuals and groups on managing career transitions. You might think the focus was on helping to find a new job or that the target audience would be individuals facing retirement or a pending lay-off, remarkably that has not been the case. I have worked with individuals at all stages and levels of the career life cycle, to include college graduates entering into their first professional job and trying to maneuver the nuances of work that do not pertain to their technical expertise, to mid-life career professionals trying to integrate their passion into their work and emerging leaders preparing for their next step.
If you are wondering if I have suddenly switched career paths or expanded my practice to become a career counselor, I have not. The mission of DB Latimore Professional Services Group is to maximize productivity in both organizations and individuals. As such, my coaching encompasses the career development aspect focused on blending technical skills and professional competencies, starting at the fundamental question of "why we work?"
Within the foundation of the "why we work," my clients explore the perceived barriers that prevent us from having a meaningful work/life experience. Carole Kanchier, author of "Dare to Change your Job-and your Life," writes, "We often hesitate to follow our hearts to grow because of perceived barriers. Read more.
Mid-life career change occurs at any stage where you determine there is a mis-alignment with what you do and who you are. Are you at this stage of exploration, if so contact me for guided assistance in exploring your career journey.
